Working with professor Evgenia was a true privilege and one of the best and most rewarding experiences of my life. Everything about violin playing I know, I know because of her, she demands a lot and is very thorough in her teaching. What is crucial, in my opinion, is the commitment she has in getting the most from her every student by making him a physically healthy, well-postured, self-thinking individual violinist. Before I met her, I had many blocks all over my body, she was the only person who felt it so to get a healthy tone, she taught me step by step how to feel and control every part of the body, I finally became aware of it. Besides the technique teaching, my favourite part is when she shared her knowledge about musical styles, ways of playing each period of music and THE quartet lessons. Her chamber music lessons were always a blast, I had the feeling there is magic in the air and enjoyed every single moment of it. She is a hard worker, a passionate musician and a beautiful person to know in life, I would recommend her to everyone I know or even don't know
I have had the opportunity of meeting and working with Evghenia Epsthein in 2016 at the International Sommer Akademie in Reichenau auf dem Rax, Austria. She offered me extremely valuable input on my playing, helping me be aware of my strengths and particularities as well as pointing out my weaknesses and helping me overcome them. Since then I have visited her as often as I could to continue to work with her. Her approach to teaching violin is very “holistic”, helping me obtain a better form of musicianship through analyzing and improving my playing from a wide range of perspectives: physiological, psychological, aestethical, technical and of course, musical. Through her open mind and her mastery of the Russian school of violin playing she has helped me overcome some very deepset and profound issues in my playing, helping me to be closer to my highest form of playing and also opening my eyes to new ways of loving and living music in general and the violin in particular. Apart from the knowledge transmitted, she is a very warm person with a genuine passion for teaching and helping people to be not only the best violin player they can, but also the best human
Prof. Epshtein has a very great method of teaching, where everything is based on the feeling of your body. If you have any problem, she'll find the way to fix that in a way that it's best for you. She helped me to find my best sound and how to recognize a color of strings, melody, tone, the inner beauty of the violin. Prof. Epshtein show me the meaning of playing a violin. Today I'm teacher in a music school, and I hope I can do the same for the next generation of violinists what Prof. Epshtein taught me.
I had my first lesson with Evgenia Epshtein while I was still studying at Latvian Academy of Music and was thinking about going to Erasmus to Germany. Right away I understood that the professor is speaking about things that nobody teaches anywhere so it was clear to me that I want to continue my studies with her. The most important qualities of the work we have done together is the technical part of the playing/posture, the differences between musical styles and the musicality of the individual which are in auditions and performance in general nowadays demanded the most
I recommend Prof.Evgenia Epshtein to any institution as a brilliant musician and an excellent teacher. We have been working together in Sofia, Bulgaria and Split, Croatia. I admire her ability to focus on her student's weaknesses as well as their strengths and use her exceptional knowledge of proper body movement while playing.
Evgenia is amazing teacher and can contribute a lot to any institution, group of chamber musicians or an orchestra.
After few years of University studies with different professors E.Epshtein finally showed me the right technique and anatomical posture for my body; and the natural, high artistic and philosophical level for my mind.
The concert was a real pleasure! Evgenia Epshtein took us through the history of the Jewish people with her music with the abundance of emotions I experienced while listening to her performance.
